Anticipation is the best

Let me tell you something. Birthdays and holidays just aren’t that great. I love the days BEFORE those days. The days leading up to birthdays and holidays are my favourite. Anticipation is the best.

In December, my daughter and I were walking to school and talking about Christmas. It was snowy and cold and she was talking about all the things that we were going to do over the break and then she explaimed…

“Christmas was the best day of the year!”

I had to disagree. What did she know though? She’s only 9.

“The lead up to Christmas is the best. Christmas is great, but the anticipation is the best. The days before Christmas are the best.”

We’ve all experienced the excitement of anticipation. The days leading up to our birthday, New Years Eve, going on vacation, whatever it is, it’s the days leading up to it that are the best. That’s what this week’s message of the week is all about.

This week’s message of the week is…

Life is 99% anticipation.

Consider right now. Things are a bit weird right now. Groups of ten, social distancing and curbside pick-up, but one-day things will be a bit closer to what we were used to. We’ll be able to see each other, go places, hug, high-five and much more.

Between now and then though, it’s important that we appreciate all the little steps and efforts that we’re making as we move towards that day. We appreciate that people are trying and making sacrifices so that all of us can get back to normal.

It’s great that we can now see a few more people and visit a few more places and sure it’s not like it used to be, but we are getting there and the lead up to it is great.
