WAKO Nationals Update

Dear Clubs,

We are excited to announce that over 500 registrations have come in for the 2022 National Championship!  We are also incredibly proud to acknowledge that athletes, coaches and clubs coming from 8 provinces and 2 territories making this the largest and a truly nation-wide combative championship!

This email is to provide important information so please read carefully and communicate with all participants from your school/club.

Registration Closed
We have officially closed all registration for Nationals as of today May 13th.  We allowed new clubs to submit registrations in a few days past the May 9th deadline, however we cannot accept any more registrations as we have to verify documentation and begin the drawings.

Communications
It as been challenging keeping up with the number of email submissions of documents coming in each day.  Due to time constraints we have not been able to confirm with individuals (athletes and parents) when documents come in unless something is missing and we cannot proceed with the registration.  
Please inform your members that if have not received a communications that is most likely a positive and their documents have been entered.

They can always check to make sure their payments have been processed as the best way of ensuring that registrations have arrived.

Missing Documents and Information
A huge challenge with the Nationals is the sheer number of missing documents and information on documents.  All athletes submitting Nationals Registrations were required to previously submit their Individual WAKO Canada Registration and WAKO Canada Medical (if doing ring sport). 
Many have not done so – and all persons and clubs have been notified.
Any missing information, documents or payments must be submitted no later than noon Monday May 16th.  If items are still missing after this date the registration will be removed from the drawings.
We are being as patient as possible given the delays in processing documents however all documents should have been submitted correctly.  For example we have over 20 Nationals Registration forms with no weight divisions listed!

Nationals Schedule
The final schedule for the Nationals will be posted one week prior to the Nationals weekend on the WAKO Canada website.  However for planning purposes here is the preliminary schedule that may change slightly based on drawings.  Please note – we cannot accommodate any personal request for bout scheduling.  Please arrange your schedule so that you will be available at all times during the Nationals Schedule

Friday June 3
4 pm – Registration/Weigh ins and Medicals Open
6 pm – Bracket 1 (Ring Disciplines and Tatami Disciplines)

Saturday June 4
7 am – Registration/Weigh ins and Medicals Open
11 pm – Bracket 2 (Ring Disciplines and Tatami Disciplines)
6 pm – Bracket 3 ( Ring Disciplines and Tatami Disciplines)

Sunday June 5
7 am – Weigh ins and Medicals
10 am – Bracket 4 (Ring Disciplines and Tatami Disciplines)
6 pm – Nationals completed (may be sooner or later so please plan accordingly)

Niagara Falls Hotels
As there are so many different hotels in the Niagara Falls area we are allowing all athletes, coaches and spectators to book their own accommodations for the Nationals based on your own budget and needs.  There is no central host hotel.

Spectator Tickets
The cost of spectator tickets will be as follows:
$40 per day

$100 weekend pass

$20 per day for children under 3 and seniors over 65 (ID required)

The cost of our Nationals Championship is significantly high than in the past so our fees had to be increased to cover the cost of our the event. Please note our association is a non-profit entity and all fees help support our program and services.
